Sofia Bianchi Maestre

Sofia Bianchi Maestre

Born in Algeciras, Spain, in 1996. Since 2023, she studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Unidad Editorial Double Bass Chair with professor Wies de Boevé. She has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

She began her musical training in La Línea de la Concepción, Cádiz, at the age of 12. In 2010, she entered the Academy of Orchestral Studies at the Barenboim-Said Foundation in Seville. She furthered her studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music (2013-2018) and at the Liceu Music Conservatory in Barcelona, where she finished her training. Additionally, she has attended masterclasses by Philipp Stubenrauch, among others.

In the 2021-2022 academic year, she has worked as a teacher at the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra Academy.

As a student of the School, she has performed with the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Péter Csaba, and she is currently part of the Unidad Editorial Bottesini Double Bass Quartet.
